I should have known it was going to be a good day when shortly after midnight, I beat that level of Candy Crush that I had been stuck on for weeks. Today is the third and three has always irrationally been my lucky number. I was born on 9/3, the same day as Bob and Linda’s anniversary. (Any Bob’s Burgers fans?) It’s easy to remember because nine is divisible by three. Granted, a lot of numbers are divisible by three. Regardless, here I am, exactly one month after my birthday, on the lucky third, waiting for my heart transplant! I can’t even believe I got the heart.

This is how I feel, of course!

This is how I feel, of course!

I’m too nervous to be witty or profound and write a whole bunch, but as of now this thing is happening. Every day since I was 11 years old, when I was first diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, I wondered when this day would come. Well, here it its.

I went to bed last night thinking, “Ehh, I’m not going to get the call. I’m just going to put my phone on silent.” I am so stupid. My mom came banging on my locked door at 4:52 a.m. I thought I had overslept, but nope. It was the call.

To be quite honest, me and this LVAD were not getting along well. I am not ready to take care of a baby, and that’s what it felt like. I had to carry this heavy thing everywhere and be sure not to drop it. It didn’t keep me up crying, but it did keep me up with it’s glowing lights and alarms when the battery needed to be changed. I am grateful for the prolonged health it gave me, but hopefully after this transplant things will be easier for me.

I’m ready! I think….More thoughts to come.

Holy Master, Loving Father…once more we come to you en masse with a heavy burden in our hearts.
Do you ever tire of our presence before your Holy Throne? But you are our God! You are our Strength!! You are our Mighty Arm in battle!!! Who else can we turn to? No one!! There is none like you!! So …Abba…Father…hear your children in this our most troubling hour. Your eyes are everywhere and you see everything. You know the situation of our sister and friend Karen…a mighty warrior princess, a fighter against the devices of the enemy. Her body has suffered a blow that has taken her out of the fight. She is now unable to stand guard in her own defense. We are praying Father God to give your Angels charge to stand watch over her. We pray that you deny the enemy access to her body while it is being repaired, that her care givers, your servants, submit to the movings of Your Spirit as you guide their hands and movements and decision making processes as you heal Karen within.
We , her family and friends fill your Holy Temple, prostrate before your Presence, pleading the blood of Your Most Blessed and Holy Son…please return our sister to us that our joy may be complete this day. We will not forget to Whom we owe the thanks and will continue to praise Your Sweet Name forever more – we promise, in Jesus Name. Amen

We have not so soon forgotten Your demonstration awesomeness and mercy Father. We rejoice in the fact that on Friday you worked a divine miracle in Karen’s life. Thank you.
But you always do so much more than we ask or think and we can’t wait to witness how Karen has been changed by her walk with you. Thank you again. Thank you!!
