About Me

My name is Karen Hill and I am GRACIOUS 22 year old heart transplant recipient. I was first diagnosed with Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopahty when I was 11 years old, which is a rarely rare diagnosis, especially since I have been left with no reason as to why. Honestly, I kept it to myself and really close friends and family for a very long time. While, I went about my business as if it never bothered me, I have thought about every single day since diagnosis. When would be the day that I NEED that transplant? Well, my time has come and I am full of joy and gratitude for this wonderful gift of life that I decided to share my journey and story with my friends. People who think they know me, well now you know a little more. Strangers going trough the same thing looking for support and answers, I would love to be of help.

Writing has always been a passion of mine and so I have turned to this tried-and-true medium to connect me and my story with whomever has open ears.

Before my transplant I had a Pacemaker and an LVAD installed, both of which were journeys in themselves. October 3rd, 2014 is my second birthday and I day will never forget — minus half the day I was under sedation for surgery 😉 I hope you enjoy my sentiments, rants, and stories. This blog isn’t just about the medical stuff but really about my day to day life. As on doctor phrased it: “It’s like three stages. Oh Sh** I need a heart transplant. Oh Sh** I got a heart transplant. And Oh Sh** what do I do with a heart transplant.” And as we all know, sh** happens. So let’s explore, shall we?
